He Sustains

Psalm 3

2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.

God has sustained me. He has allowed me to breathe the breath of life for another day.

How many times do we remember to thank God for the things that we normally take for granted, like waking up this morning?

On most days,  "waking" is not something that most of us enjoy. Yet, in verse 5, David was thankful that God has allowed him to wake to another day of his life.

"..for it is the gracious operation of God's Holy Spirit upholding a man above nature, and therefore the Lord must have all the glory of it." -- C.H. Spurgeon

Take the time today to thank God for the things that you normally take for granted.
