  • Dr. John S. Connell

    Senior Pastor

    Dr. Connell brings extensive ministry experience to Countryside. He has pastored churches in Alabama, Louisiana, and Georgia. At one of those churches he was superintendent of a 1,000 student Christian school. Dr. Connell also served as Chairman of the Christian Studies Department at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia. Holding a BS in Business Administration from the University of North Alabama, he also earned a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Theology from New Orleans Baptist Seminary. He, joined by his wife, Donna, became Senior Pastor at Countryside in January 2015.


  • Rev. Dan Harrington

    associate pastor

    Dan serves as the Associate Pastor here at CBC. Dan served 11 years as the student pastor before transitioning to his current role in March 2019. He and his wife Jamie married in 1992, and have two sons, Chase and Aidan. Dan graduated from Williams Jennings Bryan College in 1989, and he holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Biblical Studies. He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.



  • Mr. Steve HArtog

    Director of worship arts

    Steve joined the CBC staff in December 2010 with his wife Valerie and children Joshua, Jonathan and Jessika. He studied music at St. Petersburg College and has a Certificate in Biblical Studies from Liberty University as well as a Certificate in Counseling from the Association of Christian Counselors. Steve has used his proficiency in 5 different instruments to serve the Lord in full time music ministries in Pinellas County for over 20 years.

  • Olivia SPurlock

    director of audio/visual & creative production

    Olivia has been part of the CBC family since she was 3 years old, gaining her experience from many passionate years of children’s choir and musicals, High School theatre productions, Praise Team and Adult Choir presentations, and on-the-job sound and video training. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management Administration and Homeland Security, but chooses to use her problem-solving expertise to keep CBC’s Audio, Visual and Creative Productions interesting and relevant year-round and can be found behind the scenes or on the stage at just about any function CBC holds. Her love for God’s people is compelling her to pursue a Certificate in Christian Counseling in the near future.

  • Brian Machado

    Director of children's church & activities

    Brian joined the staff in February of 2018. He is joined by his lovely wife Tami and their five

    children (Devan, Alyssa, Aliyah, Ashley, and Aidan). He graduated from the University of South Florida and has his Bachelor of Science in Education. Brian has 18 years of experience as a teacher with Pinellas and Pasco County schools. He currently teaches 6 th grade American History at Gulf Middle. Brian brings his experience and passion to help children and families find a closer walk with Jesus. Our goal at CBC is to guide children to discover an eternal faith and empower them to spread peace, hope and love throughout their lives.

  • Debbie Kohnle

    Financial secretary

    Debbie came to CBC in October of 1998 and serves as our financial and membership secretary.  She has an AS degree in accounting from St Pete College.  Debbie and her husband Len have two grown sons.  She feels that God has put her here so she can use all her skills, talents and interests in one remarkable place. 

  • Scot COnrad

    Maintenance manager

    Scot became a member of the CBC staff in 2016. He is a highly skilled and talented facilities and maintenance manager. Scot has more than 30 years of experience in all forms of construction, remodeling, painting, plumbing and electrical. He supervises many projects here at Countryside Baptist, ranging from large remodels to day to day maintenance needs. Scot and his wife Susie met in high school and have been married for over 37 years. They have home schooled and raised three boys -Joshua, Isaac and Mathew.  Their family has a love for the Lord, history, fellowship, sports, nature and gardening.

  • Jenny Parry

    Ministry Assistant

    Jenny came to be the Ministry Assistant at CBC in 2011 after a 38 year career in banking, and can be found during the working week hours keeping our office running smoothly and warmly encouraging everyone who calls or comes through the door of the church. Jenny and her husband, Mickey, have been married more than 40 years and are proud parents of 3 grown children and grandparents to 2 incredible grandchildren - just ask her!
