Countryside Baptist Church, is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention. We began as a mission in 1977, sponsored by Calvary Baptist Church of Clearwater.

We moved into our present auditorium in 1981 and opened  our education building in 1992. More History

Church Building at Dusk

At present we average about three hundred persons in the Sunday morning service, and about two hundred attend Sunday school; about half in our adult Sunday School divisions.

Just as we sprang from mission minded folks in another church, we promulgate the Gospel with local missions of our own

On September 4, 1977 eighty-seven people gathered at the home of Katie Salls for our first service.  We moved into our first building on Christmas morning, 1977 with 102 people in attendance.  Rev. Charles Burchett answered the call as our first pastor in January, 1978.  He was succeeded by Rev. Vince Gaugler who served from 1979 until 1989.

Under Brother Vince's leadership we were constituted as a church in June, 1980 and we completed our present auditorium in November of '81.  Our third pastor, Bruce Crawford, was called in December, 1989.  He has presided over the addition of our Education Building.   This two story 23,000 square foot facility also houses the fellowship hall and kitchen.  This expansion allowed us to remodel the former fellowship hall into a pre-school / nursery facility adjacent to the auditorium. Brother Bruce was called to lead the First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach, SC and we bid a sad farewell on December 19th, 2004. On December 11, 2005 the fourth pastor of Countryside, Dr. Timothy Brown, began his ministry.

Our true history, however, is not written in brick and mortar and the dry recitation of pastoral assignments.  It is written across Glory in the thousands of lives Christ has touch through His local church in Countryside.  It is written in the stories of sinners gloriously converted, of God's children strengthened though fellowship and teaching, and in lives touched through missionary outreach, locally and around the world.  It is our prayer that our Lord will continue to use this congregation for His glory until He comes.  To God be the Glory - Amen.

Our first offspring, Palm Harbor Baptist, was constituted as a church in 1995 after ten years in mission status.  We currently host the Chinese Baptist mission in our own facilities.

Southern Baptist Convention

Since its organization in 1845 in Augusta, Georgia, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has grown to over 16 million members who worship in more than 42,000 churches in the United States. Southern Baptists sponsor about 5,000 home missionaries serving the United States, Canada, Guam and the Caribbean, as well as sponsoring more than 5,000 foreign missionaries in 153 nations of the world.

The term "Southern Baptist Convention" refers to both the denomination and its annual meeting. Working through 1,200 local associations and 41 state conventions and fellowships, Southern Baptists share a common bond of basic Biblical beliefs and a commitment to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world.

You become a Southern Baptist by uniting with a Southern Baptist church, one in friendly cooperation with the general Southern Baptist enterprise of reaching the world for Christ. Typically church membership is a matter of accepting Jesus as your Savior and Lord and experiencing believer's baptism by immersion.

The Gospel

The fact that Jesus died for our sin, was buried, and then rose from the grave is foundational for Southern Baptists. He lives today and stands ready to give abundant and eternal life to all those who repent of sin and place their faith in Him. Southern Baptists invite everyone to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
