It has been said that too many Christians worship their work, work at their play, and play at their worship. What we do on Sundays we call worship, but is it really? For many people the subject of worship is an enigma. They come to services and sing, but they sense something is missing.
They find themselves wondering if perhaps there is something they failed to learn About their life with God. So, what is worship and why is it important?
We get our word "worship" from the old English word "worth-ship," which
meant " to ascribe accurate worth to something." When we worship God we are proclaiming that He is worthy of our praises. He is a great and mighty God who deserves our praise because of who He is and what He has done.
Our worship takes many forms: singing, praying, praising, responding, giving God the Best we have to offer. Worship needs to be in the center of all that we do. Yes, we need to witness and we need to work, but until worship is central, all those other things will be
A struggle and will not flow as they ought from our worship of the Lord. I love to say "Worship is not state of the art, but a state of the heart!" Yes, Worship starts at the heart, it is a response of obedience to God and is a reflection of your whole life!
When we come together on Sunday and sing, we are saying, "Lord, we praise you and give you our lives." We listen to God and obey Him. We reach out to one another in love. The quality of our worship here is a reflection of our relationship with God. Our worship, like our lives, has one focus: honoring and glorifying God. I look forward to worshipping God with you every Sunday! I also look forward to learning together how God wants us to worship him! Remember, If you don’t sing, the rocks will cry out And that’s not pretty!
At Countryside Baptist Church we have a choir, a praise band as well as praise singers and a children’s choir. We also record our services Via.
