The feeding of the 5,000 is one of the most well known events in the Bible, but there are a lot of misconceptions. The number that Jesus and His apostles fed that day was closer to 15,000-20,000 - roughly the size of the crowd at a sold out NBA game. However, the visible multiplication of the fish and bread pointed to a larger invisible need, that of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Jesus’ Apostles are about to take part in one of the most well known miracles in history, the feeding of the 5,000+. While they don’t know this is coming, Jesus does, and He commands them to “rest a little while”. Do you intentionally find time for rest in your busy schedule? Weariness leads to wastefulness but resting recharges us for Christs kingdom work.
